Today, February 1st, begins Black History Month in Canada. Carter Godwin Woodson is considered the “Father” of Black History Month in North Amerca. He founded the Association of the Study of African American Life and History and announced the celebration of a black history week in February 1926. Almost 100 years later, this concept has transformed into the celebration of the histories, successes, sacrifices and triumphs of the Black community.
